MDA Changes Logo

Our Missile Defense Agency recently changed their logo. It used to look like this:

 

Now it looks like this:

 

What was wrong with the old one is what I wanna know. 

I'm not sure who was behind the change but the new logo sure does remind me of another logo:

 

Some are even saying that it is a combination of the Obama logo and this one:

 

I can see how they both, when put together, resemble the new MDA logo, but I think that it was only by chance that the logo looks a bit like the Star and Crescent.
