Town in Iowa Tries to Change Name of 2000 Year Old Holiday
In an effort not to offend anyone who isn't Christian, the Davenport Iowa Civil Rights Commission tried to rename Good Friday "Spring Holiday" on their municipal calendar.

Ann Coulter Speech Gets Shut Down...Then She Lays The Smack Down
If you read this blog, or watch the news even occasionally, you know that Ann Coulter was from giving a speech at the University of Ottawa this week because those in charge there thought that he remarks would incite violence.
Her most recent column discusses this.
Her most recent column discusses this.
Violent Mobs
Recently there was a story about how a coffin was left on the lawn of a Missouri Democrat Rep. Russ Carnahan. The story was false and the information used for the story was given by Carnahan spokesman Jim Hubbard.
The coffin was actually near by but used in a rally to show where our babies will end up now that Obamacare has passed.
How do I know this? The Politico changed their story 6 hours later and added the paragraph:
The coffin was from a prayer vigil, and protesters say that the coffin symbolized babies who would be aborted due to the health care law and was not a threat to Carnahan.
The stills of the web site are whats show above. Check out the time stamps.
You know, there has been a lot in the media and elsewhere lately about how violent the Tea Partiers are getting and how rocks and things have been thrown through windows of Democratic lawmakers, but I can't ever remember a mob of people who threatened violence that were Republicans.
I can think of many that were Democrat though.

A Great Article That Sums Up What Has Been Going On In The Media Lately
If you can't stand the heat, manufacture a hate-crime epidemic.
After years of covering racial hoaxes on college campuses and victim sob stories in the public arena, I've encountered countless opportunists who live by that demented mindset. At best, the fakers are desperately seeking 15 minutes of infamy. At worst, their aim is the criminalization of political dissent.
Upon decimating the deliberative process to hand President Obama a health care "reform" victory, unpopular Beltway Democrats and their media water-carriers now claim there's a Tea Party epidemic of racism, harassment and violence against them.
On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a tepid, obligatory statement against smearing all conservatives as national security threats. But her lieutenants had already emptied their tar buckets. Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman Chris Van Hollen accused Republican leaders of "stoking the flames." Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn accused the GOP of "aiding and abetting" what he called "terrorism."
Yet, the claims that Tea Party activists shouted "nigger" at black House Democrats remain uncorroborated. The coffin reportedly left outside Missouri Democratic Rep. Russ Carnahan's home was used in a prayer vigil by pro-life activists in St. Louis protesting the phony Demcare abortion-funding ban in Obama's deal-cutting executive order. Videotape of a supposed intentional spitting incident targeting Missouri Democratic Rep. Emanuel Cleaver at the Capitol shows no such thing. Cleaver himself backed off the claim a few days later. He described his heckler to The Washington Post in more passive terms as "the man who allowed his saliva to hit my face." Slovenliness equals terrorism!
The FBI is now investigating the most serious allegation -- that Tea Party activists in Virginia are somehow responsible for a cut gas line at the home of Democratic Rep. Tom Perriello's brother. But instead of waiting for the outcome of that probe, liberal pundits have enshrined the claim as conclusive evidence of the Tea Party reign of terror.
Need more reasons to treat the latest Democratic hysteria with a grain of salt the size of their gargantuan health care bill? Remember:
-- In November 2009, Kentucky census worker Bill Sparkman was found dead in a secluded rural cemetery with the word "Fed" scrawled on his chest and a rope around his neck. The Atlantic Monthly, Huffington Post and liberal media hosts stampeded over themselves to blame Fox News, conservative blogs, Republicans and right-wing radio. Federal, state and local authorities discovered that Sparkman had killed himself and deliberately concocted a hate-crime hoax as part of an insurance scam to benefit his surviving son.
-- In mid-October 2008, news outlets from Scranton, Pa., to ABC News to the Associated Press and MSNBC reported that someone at a Sarah Palin rally shouted "kill him" when Obama's name was mentioned. In fact, the Secret Service (which was at the event in full force) couldn't find a single person to corroborate the story -- other than the local reporter for the Scranton Times-Tribune who made an international incident out of the claim. Agent Bill Slavoski "said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers, and not one heard the comment," the paper reported in a red-faced follow-up. Maybe the shouter is hiding with Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman's real killer.
-- In late October 2008, a gaggle of liberal blogs spread the rumor that a Republican supporter of vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's had shouted that Obama was "a nigger" during a campaign rally in Iowa. Video and firsthand accounts showed that the protester did not shout "he's a nigger," but "he's a redistributor." A lefty activist at the "progressive" Daily Kos blog confirmed the truth -- but to this day, the crisis-manufacturing smear stands uncorrected and unretracted across the Internet.
-- In September 2009, supporters of Colorado Democratic Rep. John Salazar falsely accused a town hall protester of hurling a death threat at the congressman. Liberal blogs again disseminated the angry Tea Party mob narrative. A week later, the local press quietly reported that Grand Junction police had investigated the incident -- and determined the claim was "unfounded." A police spokeswoman revealed that "(p)eople who witnessed the interaction between the man who made the complaint and the suspect confirmed they never heard any direct threats made regarding Congressman Salazar." Witnesses included a Grand Junction cop "in close proximity when the interaction took place."
-- In late August 2009, as lawmakers faced citizen revolts at health care town halls nationwide, the Colorado Democratic Party decried a vandalism attack at its Denver headquarters. A hammer-wielding thug smashed 11 windows and caused $11,000 in property damage. The perpetrator, Maurice Schwenkler, turned out to be a far-left nutball/transgender activist/single-payer anarchist who had worked for an SEIU-tied 527 group and canvassed for a Democratic candidate. Nevertheless, Colorado Democratic Party Chair Pat Waak continued to blame "people opposed to health care" for the attack.
Then, as now, being a Democratic Party official means never having to say you're sorry for smearing conservative dissent.

Freudian Slip
The senior Democrat in the House of Representatives (John Dingell) slipped the other day and said this about the new health care bill that just passed.
DINGELL: Paul W. (Smith), we're not ready to be doing it, but let me remind you, this has been going on for years. We are bringing it to a halt. The harsh fact of the matter is when you're going to pass legislation that will cover 300 American people in different ways it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.
It is reported that Dingell later contacted the Wall Street Journal to clarify saying that he was "tired" and that was the reason for the slip.
A slip is a slip and a Freudian slip is what that was. He didn't let fly something that isn't true, he let slip something that he wanted hidden.
That's a pretty big slip though. He used a phrase that shouldn't even be in the paragraph he used. to help the people would have worked, or for the American people, but to control the people? That phrase is as out of place as a turd in a punch bowl.

Guess Who Is Exempt From Buying Health Insurance
Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa has told us on his web site that he plans on offering an amendment to the recently passed health care bill during it's reconciliation in the Senate.
The amendment will seek "to apply the reform legislation to the President, Vice President, cabinet members and top White House staff."
Yep, you read that right. The health care bill that was passed Sunday night does not currently apply to the POTUS, the VPOTUS, his cabinet and his staff and members of Congress too.

Health Bill Exempts Certain People

If it is so great and won't lower anyone's quality of life then why are they exempting themselves?
They should have to use it if we do. That way if it doesn't end up working (which it will) then they will know about it because they will experience it as well and the changes can be made to correct the problem.
This is not something novel to the democratic party. They have done it with education as well.
Obama keeps his kids in a private school while opposing the voucher program.
Also remember Al Gore and others flying around the world in their Gulfstreams to tell us to watch our carbon footprint?
There are 2 Americas. The one we live in and the one our politicians live in.

Ann Coulter Speech Cancelled
As you may have guessed by now...I love Ann Coulter. I usually post her column to this blog because they are great and full of common sense.
Well my favorite columnist was due to give a speech today in Ottawa Canada at the University of Ottawa but was unable to for all the threats of violence.
One source says there were 2000 or more protesters outside the complex where she was to give the speech. There were even bloggers calling for her to be hurt. Which is typical of a leftist crowd.
Here is a news cast on it.

219 to 212
House Democrats rammed through Obamacare 219 to 212.
No Republicans voted with the socialists.
A slap in the face of God on the Sabbath. Rights come from Him and Him only, not from government. How dare the democrats try to take up the mantle of God and create a right.
For the first time ever in the history of our country, when this bill is fully operational, you will be forced by our loving government to purchase a product.
With this vote the democrats have committed political suicide for a place in the history books. In November each and every democrat who voted YEA will be voted out of office.
The downfall of the democrats getting voted out of office in November is that Republicans will hold the majority in the Congress in November and Obama will be a one term president for passing this wildly unpopular bill into law. 2014 is when socialized medicine will be fully implemented and when we should all feel the effects of this atrocity, and when the country then goes bankrupt and we all start to see the failure of government-controlled medicine, the Republican-controlled Congress and the Republican President will be blamed for the state of the country by aspiring democraps.

My Healthcare Plan
My Healthcare Plan
Liberals keep complaining that Republicans don't have a plan for reforming health care in America. I have a plan!
It's a one-page bill creating a free market in health insurance. Let's all pause here for a moment so liberals can Google the term "free market."
Nearly every problem with health care in this country -- apart from trial lawyers and out-of-date magazines in doctors' waiting rooms -- would be solved by my plan.
In the first sentence, Congress will amend the McCarran-Ferguson Act to allow interstate competition in health insurance.
We can't have a free market in health insurance until Congress eliminates the antitrust exemption protecting health insurance companies from competition. If Democrats really wanted to punish insurance companies, which they manifestly do not, they'd make insurers compete.
The very next sentence of my bill provides that the exclusive regulator of insurance companies will be the state where the company's home office is. Every insurance company in the country would incorporate in the state with the fewest government mandates, just as most corporations are based in Delaware today.
That's the only way to bypass idiotic state mandates, requiring all insurance plans offered in the state to cover, for example, the Zone Diet, sex-change operations, and whatever it is that poor Heidi Montag has done to herself this week.
President Obama says we need national health care because Natoma Canfield of Ohio had to drop her insurance when she couldn't afford the $6,700 premiums, and now she's got cancer.
Much as I admire Obama's use of terminally ill human beings as political props, let me point out here that perhaps Natoma could have afforded insurance had she not been required by Ohio's state insurance mandates to purchase a plan that covers infertility treatments and unlimited OB/GYN visits, among other things.
It sounds like Natoma could have used a plan that covered only the basics -- you know, things like cancer.
The third sentence of my bill would prohibit the federal government from regulating insurance companies, except for normal laws and regulations that apply to all companies.
Freed from onerous state and federal mandates turning insurance companies into public utilities, insurers would be allowed to offer a whole smorgasbord of insurance plans, finally giving consumers a choice.
Instead of Harry Reid deciding whether your insurance plan covers Viagra, this decision would be made by you, the consumer. (I apologize for using the terms "Harry Reid" and "Viagra" in the same sentence. I promise that won't happen again.)
Instead of insurance companies jumping to the tune of politicians bought by health-care lobbyists, they would jump to tune of hundreds of millions of Americans buying health insurance on the free market.
Hypochondriac liberals could still buy the aromatherapy plan and normal people would be able to buy plans that only cover things such as major illness, accidents and disease. (Again -- things like Natoma Canfield's cancer.)
This would, in effect, transform medical insurance into ... a form of insurance!
My bill will solve nearly every problem allegedly addressed by ObamaCare -- and mine entails zero cost to the taxpayer. Indeed, a free market in health insurance would produce major tax savings as layers of government bureaucrats, unnecessary to medical service in America, get fired.
For example, in a free market, the government wouldn't need to prohibit insurance companies from excluding "pre-existing conditions."
Of course, an insurance company has to be able to refuse NEW customers with "pre-existing conditions." Otherwise, everyone would just wait to get sick to buy insurance. It's the same reason you can't buy fire insurance on a house that's already on fire.
That isn't an "insurance company"; it's what's known as a "Christian charity."
What Democrats are insinuating when they denounce exclusions of "pre-existing conditions" is an insurance company using the "pre-existing condition" ruse to deny coverage to a current policy holder -- someone who's been paying into the plan, year after year.
Any insurance company operating in the free market that pulled that trick wouldn't stay in business long.
If hotels were as heavily regulated as health insurance is, right now I'd be explaining to you why the government doesn't need to mandate that hotels offer rooms with beds. If they didn't, they'd go out of business.
I'm sure people who lived in the old Soviet Union thought it was crazy to leave groceries to the free market. ("But what if they don't stock the food we want?")
The market is a more powerful enforcement mechanism than indolent government bureaucrats. If you don't believe me, ask Toyota about six months from now.
Right now, insurance companies are protected by government regulations from having to honor their contracts. Violating contracts isn't so easy when competitors are lurking, ready to steal your customers.
In addition to saving taxpayer money and providing better health insurance, my plan also saves trees by being 2,199 pages shorter than the Democrats' plan.
Feel free to steal it, Republicans!

Kucinich Caves
Yesterday Dennis Kucinich held a conference in which he said he would be voting for Obama's health care bill.
This came as quite a shock to all who can remember that a few months ago Kucinich signed a document saying that he would not vote for the bill unless it had a public option, which it still does not have.
Earlier this week Obama took Kucinich for a ride on Air Force One. I wonder what was said on the trip that got Kucinich to change his mind?
The current health care bill will not pass with a public option and the POTUS, Pelosi, and Reid know that, which is why it's not in there. What happened on Air Force One was that Obama promised that he'd eventually add it to the bill when it is law.
Obama didn't commit to a public option in the future but promised to work with him on his "broad concerns."
Obama has been clear that his ultimate goal is a public option:
Here.

Update: Obama Prop Fail
In yesterday's post I mentioned that Obama talked about health care yesterday. And it was there that he had a letter from a lady who had to quite her job because she got cancer and so had to buy her own health insurance, and then had to cancel her own health insurance years later because her premiums went up.
See yesterdays post.
Well I really didn't give any evidence of all this because I couldn't find any, but it has been reported finally that all this stuff is true.

Obama Prop Fail
The Associated Press reports that the President spoke on health care at the Walter F. Ehrnfelt Recreation and Senior Center in Strongsville, Ohio today.
He read a letter he received from a cancer patient who was diagnosed 16 years ago. The letter was written to tell Obama that she had lost her job (or quit. not sure) 12 years ago but continued to purchase her own health insurance. Then the premiums rose by 3 thousand dollars per year and she quit purchasing.
She couldn't tell the crowd this herself (she sent her sister) because she is in the hospital getting treated for her cancer.
Yep. Getting care with no insurance. She's not at home waiting to die. She hasn't been refused treatment like most democrats want you to believe.

Democrats Exploit Boy To Push HELLthcare
The Dems have found a woman who has a medical problem and no insurance and flown her and her son out to DC for a soundbite in hopes that their story (which IS sad) will tug at the Republican's heartstrings and they will all vote to pass health care as they wipe away their tears.
Did you hear Dick there? 70 people die a day for lack of health care. Why then does Obamacare not kick in then until 2014? If they were so concerned with saving lives shouldn't it go into effect immediately?

Matt Damon's 'Green Zone' Flops
Green Zone took a dump this last weekend at the box office when on opening weekend it made only $14 million. Yeah that is a lot of money, but not when it cost $100 million plus to make.
This is just another in a list of anti-Iraq war movies to flop in theaters.
Remember Stop-Loss? It bombed (pun intended) too:
Despite favorable reviews, the film was a box office bomb. In its opening weekend, it grossed a mere $4.5 million in 1,291 theaters in the United States and Canada, ranking #8 at the box office. As of June 17, 2008, it has grossed a total of $10.9 million in the United States and Canada and over $16,000 in other territories. The film had an estimated budget of $25 million and only grossed $11 million worldwide, less than half of its budget.
Also there was Lions for Lambs, which according to the New York Times lost $50 million dollars plus.
Next is Rendition, which stunk and was rated by Peter Travers of Rolling Stone magazine as the year's Worst Anti-War Film on his list of the Worst Movies of 2007.
Redacted. This film was largely financed by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. He seems pretty cool, a young millionaire sitting there on the sidelines cheering on his team. Because of his role in financing the film he and the director were labeled as traitors to the United States for the bad light it put the military in.
It cost $5 million to make and brought it at last count $762,252. Ouch.
And In the Valley of Elah.
Hollywood...no one wants to see you anti-American military movies.
Compare this to the Rambo movies, which, aside from the first one, First Blood, had to do with real world current events. It had a budget of $15 million and a total domestic gross of $47 million.
Part II grossed $300 million worldwide.
Part III grossed $189 million worldwide.
And the last installment took in $113 million.
Even Son of Rambow did better than most of those anti-American flicks!

Virginia Approves Legislation to Block Obamacare
On Wednesday the state of Virginia Legislature passed legislation to block Obamacare from being implemented in that state if it passes.
The law passed with bipartisan support with no debate in a state that Obama carried easily in the race for the Presidency. And,
"thirty-four other state legislatures have either filed or proposed similar measures _ statutes or constitutional amendments _ rejecting health insurance mandates, according to the American Legislative Exchange Council."
This goes right along with those recent elections in Virginia, Massachusetts, and elsewhere in which Democrats lost to Republicans. Democrats and Republicans Congresses and in the general public do not want universal health care to pass.
This pits the 10th Amendment against the Supremacy Clause, so expect to see a ruling by the Supreme Court if Obamacare passes.

Justice Roberts Speaks Out on the State of the Union Address
Remember this. (Keep your eye on Alito.)
Chief Justice Roberts was asked about it in a recent visit to the University of Alabama Law School. This is what he said:

I Can't Believe This Guy's Position
Guns, teachers, and self-defense
I AM a math teacher at Brockton High School, the site of a school shooting earlier this month. An alternative to lockdown is immediate exodus via announcement. Although this removes potential hostages and makes it nearly impossible for the shooter to acquire preselected targets, it unfairly rewards resourceful children who move to safety off-site more shrewdly and efficiently than others.
Schools should level playing fields, not intrinsically reward those more resourceful. A level barrel is fair to all fish.
Some propose overturning laws that made schools gun-free zones even for teachers who may be licensed to securely carry concealed firearms elsewhere. They argue that barring licensed-carry only ensures a defenseless, target-rich environment.
But as a progressive, I would sooner lay my child to rest than succumb to the belief that the use of a gun for self-defense is somehow not in itself a gun crime.

Mosab Hassan Yousef on Hannity
A few weeks ago, I wrote about Mosab Hassan Yousef who is a former member of Islam who converted to Christianity. He is also the son of Hamas terrorist leader and MP, Sheikh Hassan Yousef.
He was on Hannity the other night to talk about his new book which goes into detail about his service in Israel's intelligence agency.
Let's see what he had to say:
Mosab Hassan Yousef: It doesn't exist.
[...]
The most criminal terrorist Muslim has morality, a minimum of humanity more than his god. Their god is a terrorist and ignorant.

Let's see what he had to say:
Mosab Hassan Yousef: "The god of the Koran hates Jews anyway, if there was "occupation" or not"Hannity: We keep hearing about that there is a distinction, the difference between radical Islam and mainstream Islam
The problem is with the god of Islam"
"this is not about being brainwashing, this is how people grow up everything around you in that society school, street every evet is telling you those facts about Islam."
[...]
Mosab Hassan Yousef: This is a big mistake. Comparing between moderate Muslims and fanatics. This is not how we compare it. All Muslims to me are the same. At the end of the day they believe in the god of the koran and they believe that this koran is from that god.Hannity: So let me ask this again. So when people talk about moderate Islam, you're saying it doesn't exist?
Mosab Hassan Yousef: It doesn't exist.

Obama Nominates Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit
It's always fun to see Utah in the national news don't you think?
Not so much this time. Scott M. Matheson, Jr. is the brother of Democratic U.S. Congressman Jim Matheson. Jim is one of only 10 Democratic House members to vote against Obama's health care bill.
Do you see where this is going? It is a bribe.
Obama, today, before a special meeting with the 10 Democrats who wouldn't vote for his bill, decided to send out a press release announcing that Matheson's brother Scott M. Matheson, Jr. is to be nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
I don't think Matheson will cave.He voted no once and I'm sure he'll do it again.
Don't let us down Jim!

Flashback: Obama on Healthcare
Today Obama held a press conference in which he told us that Congress will do what it take to pass HELLthcare, and we can all assume that includes the nuclear option.
Here's an excerpt:
Here is Obama as an Ill. Senator in 2004 and again on the campaign trail in 2008 saying passing a bill with a 50 + 1 majority isn't how to pass health care.
No hope and change, just politics as usual.

Obama on Nature
If we can't control nature quit trying to push the Gaia religion on us all.
I guess this was something he just came to recently otherwise I'm sure he wouldn't have gone off to those Global Warming summits wasting taxpayer dollars in the middle of a recession.
